Double Take

Philippians 4:8
Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.

What is an art piece of a nude woman in a bath tub doing in a screensaver on a library of a “Christian” university?
Why is the same library selling a dvd of American Pie Unrated?

Leonard Ravenhill preached about Jesus saying, "And there's no room for Him in the inn. He got a bit older, there was no room in His family, His family turned on Him. He went to the temple, no room in the temple, the temple turned on Him. And when He died there was no room to bury Him, He died outside of the city. Well why in God's Name do you expect to be accepted everywhere? How is it that the world couldn't get on with the holiest Man that ever lived and can get on with you and me? Are we compromised? Are we compromised? Have we no spiritual stature? Have we no righteousness that reflects on their corruption?"

I am no Ravenhill but I echo his frustration with the gap between what we say we believe and how we live our lives. There is a line and that line is either being blatantly ignore and covered up or it has been forgotten and needs to be exposed due to a lack of sensitivity to the ways of this world. Do you not see what I see or do you not care?

On FPU's website it reads "Fresno Pacific University embodies Christ-centered values."

How does selling American Pie Unrated to raise money for the library pass along Christ-centered values?

There's definitely something off-base if that's really what's going on. However, is it JUST that movie? Is the photo a piece of classic art? I can understand the art...not really the movie.

Appearently the art is part of a 70's and 80's pop art collection that the library has. My good friend asked me if God thought the body was art when he created it. I am sure you could argue both ways but it will end up coming down to personal conviction. I have chosen not to pursue the art piece that was on the screensaver.

However, I will still question the movie. I saw American Pie Unrated on the table. If you can, go by and check out what is on the tables.

This kind of behavior goes to show you the moral state of our world. "When in rome, do as the Romans do." The graphic nature of american pie defines who America is today regardless if you like that or not. We are all hipocrites and we all live according to the ways of our world, even though we are not supposed to. Nothing surprises me anymore when it comes to mankind and the things we do. Everything is a matter of relevance. If you think the people running our country, our institutions, and our businesses actually live by the standards they fight to uphold, in this case Christian beliefs and way's of life, then you are sadly mistaken. Everyting is about $, whatever institutions can do to raise $ for their cause they will, even if it negates their moral and ethical beliefs. It's very sad I know but it's the truth. It's a simple fact, whatever will sell and generate revenue then it will be done.

i think this is DISGUSTING! a college who in words say that they are a Christian college with Christ like values, and yet allows this trash on the campus! it is stupid when people say "did God think the body to be art when He created it?" in essence saying that displaying the naked or parts thereof the human body ok because it is art. if that is the case why after Adam and Eve sinned against God did they hide themselves and cover up themselves with leaves? Didn't they see THEMSELVES as art? And if God had seen their bodies as art, why then when He put them out the The Garden of Eden did God kill an animal and make a covering for them both, didn't the creator of the "so called art" see them at that moment as art? BULL. that is a way for humans, (created beings), to rebel against their creator, and say it is ok because it is art! our bodies are the temple of the Lord, created to honor Him. whether it be in print, paint, or video, the showing of or reference to the naked human body outside of God ordained marriage is SHAMEFUL.a Christian college knows that, they are just allowing themselves to "go with the flow" to keep up attendance and let's face it, the all mighty dollar. THE LOVE OF MONEY IS THE ROOT OF ALL EVIL. when you yourself compromise on theses things in your own life, you are for sure not going to hold others to a higher standard. you WANT them to be in the pit with you. SIN LOVES COMPANY. well, i don't want that kind of company, wether it be people or a college.i know we hear this all the time, but it is true.... what would Jesus do in this situation? i doubt that He would think it was alright.
