Which of these makes you feel loved? Which would you choose to do for someone else to show that you love them? Chances are that how ever you feel loved then you’ll want to express your love the same way. What if someone feels loved by another one of these and not by the one you are using? Then you aren’t speaking the same language and they aren’t feeling loved.
Tasha and I were given this book to read during our marriage counseling prior to our wedding. It provided us with wonderful insight into how we want to be loved and how to love each other speaking their love language.
On Dr. Gary Chapman’s site he provides a 30 second assessment to see what your love language is. Each of us usually has two primary love languages then the others follow in lesser strength. As a person changes, so does their love language. Taking this assessment every now and then will help you to effectively communicate love. All of our relationships are affected by communication, good and bad. If we learn to communicate our needs and to give to others what they need then our relationships will be deeper and more fulfilling.

OHHHH- The cover of YOUR book is WAY prettier than our book!
I haven't broken ours out in quite awhile. We probably should. I love that Tasha's really learning about each of God's people as an individual. Sometimes we tend to fall into the trap of thinking everyone is like us. And, well, our way of thinking is, of course, the best!
For me--It's acts of service all the way. I'm a do-er. I want to DO things & have things DONE for me. Interestingly, I don't necessarily like to GET gifts. But, I sure do love to give them.:) Guess who I married? A quality time, physical touch person. God's so funny!
Thanks for sharing. I think you & Tasha have great insight that you could share to the newlyweds. Maybe you could add it to your extensive list to write a weekly devotional to the newlyweds?!?!
Good news, I'm passing the love article along to a friend who's marriage is struggling because he is speaking the wrong language to his wife. This may very well save it for him. He feels like his eyes were just opened and now he knows how to save his marriage. Keep on spreading the word.
